{ working from Javaroom }

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

just waiting for the line to die down a bit … hoo! … a busy little morning here …

Come on out and visit The Javaroom

i’ve stationed myself at The Javaroom in Chelmsford this morning for a bit of remote Monster work … i find that i am more productive when the space is open, the iPod stream is playing outloud { well, music playing at The Javaroom is more like listening to someone’s cool iPod collection than the typical piped in + canned stuff you get at a Starbucks or Panera or something }, and the people are coming + going … a sort of real-life flow that you can’t get in an office environment { especially w/ cube involvement + such } … i also need to see the natural sunlight streaming in

i have a decent set up in the office … view of the pond … and i am right next to a gigantic window … fantastic neighbors in my little cube neighborhood … but nice to have a change of pace … + the Friday of Memorial Day weekend just might be the perfect excuse ;]

Brew’d Awakening Commuter Stop

Monday, August 18th, 2008

new haircut, slightly new coffee venue for this morning … sitting in the Brew’d Awakening aka The Red Room in beautiful downtown Lowell … I went to The University of Massachusetts at Lowell, so I have special feelings for the city, for the people, for the places of Lowell …

open conversations extending across from table to table here this morning … ‘you see, that’s the trick … you throw 5 or 6 answers out there, people forget the message’ … must be talking politics …

today its a large caramel latte … hot + frothy … swirl of caramel + foam sitting at the mouth of the deep blue mug … cool older alternative music playing, I don’t know who it is even though its from the era I grew up in, but I am getting into the jangly noise of the guitar + the occasional double hit of some sort of electronic snare + the semi-spoken vocals …

Brew’d Awakening is live, raw art … checkered pants + a perm … skull + crossbones on the bottle of life … suede cowboy jacket w/ the fringe nicely complimenting the goatee, the dark eyebrows that punctuate the eyes, that accentuate creativity + persecution … nice chime coming in on the next song, accentuating the next sip of dehydrating happiness … I need a lift + Brew’d Awakening is putting me in that mood, in that place where I can just become my thoughts + forget about the day that is about to happen, forget about the night before + just concentrate on what I want, on who I remember being …

Caramel Latte at The Brew'd Awakening

so, that’s my drink … + now I know that the group is Joy Division … the next song that opens up w/ a triumphant depressive quality is ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ … a song that I first heard on Paul Young’s first album in a much more pop-refined format … Joy Divisions is very Frankenstein-gloomalicious … very much a wake up song, a post-punk reflection of a certain sad truth in the universe, the sad truth that the more you love, the more you fall apart … the closer you think you are to true love, to finding your soul mate, the closer you are to self-destructive madness

that’s joy … another sip of coffee now please

{ mapel caramel latte Monday mourning }

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Monday morning, mid-commute stop in at The Javaroom in Chelmsford … Dawn and Jesse are still in Las Vegas living out their Aerosmith video dreams { jk }, having a blast, i’m sure … and so today, Holly serves me up a large Mapel Caramel Latte { not sure on the spelling there, that’s what it says on the menu board } … and, uhm …

… so like, yeah … i’m superHappy right now … in a very happy place … very smooth + sweet … a fantastic way to completely pamper myself into what is going to be a very busy but incredible week …

… well, i’ve got to do a bit of prep-work for PüHarmony … a little treat for Outloud Open Mike this January care of the good folks at Radio Pü … enjoy a nice cup of coffee … aight?

{ back @ The Javaroom }

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

well, let me tell ya … being involved in all this Web 2.0 will certainly help out w/ the general tour of coffeeshops, cafes + other hot beverage establishments out + about in the New England area … that’s for sure …

my latest ventures in webbish worklife have landed me back on the 495 commutetrail into the overbelly of Northeastern Massachusetts … which leads me right back to The Javaroom

Visit The Javaroom

… nice to be back … just got me a large skim maple caramel latte, listening in to the music mix { a bit too U2-heavy for me, but out of all the bonofide songs out there i can stomach ‘Bullet the Blue Sky’ best … i can see them fighter planes i can see those fighter planes } … think i’m going to hit up a bit of the poetry archive to get together another Lulu Press book, this time something a bit more Amazon-friendly { now we’re onto something a bit more femme singer-songwriter oriented } … ahhh … the coffee, the cafe, the mid-commute morning joys of stopping into The Javaroom … good to be back …

the divine inspiration of coffee

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

a few things I wrote recently while enjoying some of the best pastry and coffee on the planet at Cafe Besalu in lovely Ballard:

A Woman Wandering

there was a woman I knew once

she wandered and wondered

she came, she saw, she conquered

and then she was left with herself

Hurricane

Then again

I thought that you were not around

you kept up the fight

you read all your books and

everyone wants to see you smile

so here you come, chomping at the bit

looking for some…

some of mine

now as I stare

deep through the smoke

everything comes back to me like a hurricane
