Quick notice for an event that typically features coffee … please join us if you can …
October’s OutLoud at the Beebe Coffee House and Open Mike for poetry, prose, and music will honor three OutLoud community members who have contributed creatively in the past year.
Catherine Hsu recently published her beautiful book of poetry, Shadows and Light.
Tom F. Sheehan received his ninth Puschart nomination for his story, The Man Who Hid Music; both of the poets will read their favorable chosen pieces.
For Kirsten and Dave, October is the one year anniversary of their CD, Dreams that Just Won’t Let Go.
While these artists’ works are distinct, common threads include the struggle to remain hopeful, to find balance, and to stir the spark within. The feature is shared among a collection of OutLoud writers and musicians whose works reflect these themes.
Starbucks, a long time supporter of OutLoud (providing coffee and tea), has been invited to feature its Open Mike along with OutLoud’s. The event begins early this month, at 6:30 p.m., with Open Mike sign-up during the first 10 minutes. It runs until 9:30 p.m. There is no cover; proceeds from donations will go to charity, e.g., the Melrose Mayor’s Fund for people in need, and Melrose Alliance Against Violence (MAAV). The Beebe Estate graciously offers its art exhibit space, 235 West Foster, Melrose (www.BeebeEstate.org) for this event. Parking available on grounds. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Melrose Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a State agency.
